Privacy Policy

KoloQR is a free QR code generator. We built it to be private by default - your QR codes are created right inside your browser, and we never see what you encode.

Last updated: 1 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information KoloQR ("we", "us", the "Service") collects when you use our website at koloqr.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

The Short Version

  • You don't need an account to generate and download a QR code.
  • Your QR codes are generated locally in your browser. The text, URL, Wi-Fi details, or other content you encode is not sent to or stored on our servers.
  • We don't sell your data, and we don't track the content of the codes you create.
  • The browser extension goes further than the website: it collects nothing at all, works offline, and asks for a single permission.

Information We Don't Collect

The core of KoloQR runs entirely on your device. When you type a URL, Wi-Fi password, contact card, or any other content into the generator, that data stays in your browser. It is used only to render and export your QR code - it is never transmitted to us, logged, or saved on our side.

This means we cannot see, recover, or share the contents of the QR codes you generate. If you encode a password or other sensitive information, it lives only on your own device and in the file you download.

You do not need to register, provide an email address, or create a profile to use the generator.

Information We Do Collect

To keep the Service running and to understand how it's used, we may collect a limited amount of technical and analytics data.

Usage and Analytics Data

We use Statable, a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics service, to measure aggregate usage - things like how many people visit a page, which features are popular, and which countries our visitors come from. Statable does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally, and it does not include the content of your QR codes.

Server Logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server logs when a page is requested. These may include your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and a timestamp. Logs are used for security, debugging, and preventing abuse, and are retained only for a limited period.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use a minimal set of cookies and browser local storage to make the site work - for example, to remember your design preferences within the generator. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; some convenience features may stop working if you do.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a few third parties to deliver the Service:

  • Hosting and content delivery - to serve the website and its files.
  • Fonts - we load web fonts from a font provider, which may receive your IP address as part of the request.
  • Statable - cookieless analytics to measure aggregate, non-identifying usage.

Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy. We choose providers that are consistent with the privacy-first approach described here.

How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Understand which features are useful so we can prioritize them
  • Detect, prevent, and address security issues or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

The KoloQR Browser Extension

Everything above describes the website at koloqr.com. The KoloQR browser extension is a separate product held to a stricter rule: it collects nothing at all. There are no servers behind it, no accounts, and no tracking.

What the Extension Collects

Nothing. The extension gathers no personal or usage data whatsoever. That includes:

  • No personally identifiable information such as a name, email address, or postal address
  • No content you enter - URLs, text, contact details, or Wi-Fi credentials
  • No location data
  • No browsing history or activity
  • No analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
  • No cookies or advertising identifiers

How Your Input Is Handled

Everything you type into the extension - the text, URL, email address, phone number, Wi-Fi details, or social handle a code is built from - is processed locally in your browser to render that code. It is never sent to us or to any third party. When you close the popup that input is gone, and nothing is retained on any server.

Works Fully Offline

The extension needs no network connection to work. Its code, fonts, and assets are bundled inside it, and it neither loads nor executes remote code.

Permissions

The extension requests a single permission:

  • clipboardWrite - used only to put a QR code you generated on your clipboard when you choose "Copy to Figma", so you can paste it into your design tools. The extension never reads your clipboard.

Third Parties and Source Code

The extension integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and nothing is shared with anyone because nothing is collected. KoloQR is open source, so you are welcome to read the code and confirm exactly how the extension behaves.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because we collect so little personal data and don't require accounts, in most cases there is no personal profile for us to act on. If you have a request, contact us using the details below.

Children's Privacy

KoloQR is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
